Peace is a basic human need, but in terms of the geopolitical situation in some parts of the world, violence and extremism are the main causes of dissatisfaction among the residents of that region. In addition, challenges and instability in one country cause instability to spread throughout the region. Recently, with the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan due to the power vacuum, the dominance of the fundamentalist Taliban group opened up in the eyes of the international community. An issue that created immediate security effects and created instabilities and challenges to the development of the cooperation of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. From this point of view, the present article tries to answer the question of how the re-emergence and strengthening of the Taliban in Afghanistan can be a challenge for development and progress by insisting on the theory of the regional security complex and with a descriptive-analytical approach. Shanghai Cooperation Organization to become? The results of the research show: First, the problems caused by the dynamics of Afghanistan's internal security can become an arena for fundamentalist groups such as the Taliban. Secondly, the instability in Afghanistan and the Taliban gaining power have the potential to create security instability in other countries in the region. Finally, it is shown that the crisis of Talibanism can create challenges for the development of cooperation between member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
